Allergy season is underway in Saskatoon and may be causing anxiety for some as they try to figure out if their symptoms are allergy-related or COVID-19. Pharmacist Agusia McGrath says some people have itchy eyes or rashes, while others experience nasal or lung congestion and difficulty breathing.
Since difficulty breathing is also a symptom of the virus, McGrath says one way to tell the difference is if you have a fever, because allergies don’t cause fevers. She adds that 56 per cent of Saskatchewan allergy sufferers aren’t taking their medication properly.
McGrath explains that the best way to control your symptoms is to start taking your medication before the peak of the season, which is right about now in Saskatoon.
That gives your body a chance to process it.
