There were two closed functions Sunday at Fire Station No. 6 and in the area of the Scotiabank Theatre downtown to honour the 40th anniversary of the Queen’s Hotel fire. Firefighters Victor Budz and Dennis Guenter made the supreme sacrifice in the discharge of their duties of protecting life and property for the citizens of Saskatoon. The Queen’s Hotel was located at 1st Avenue and 20th Street when it caught fire on May 31st, 1980. A Facebook live-stream of yesterday’s remembrance was held.
