Crews from the Saskatoon Fire Department and the Airport Fire Department worked together late Tuesday afternoon to battle a brush fire near the airport. Multiple 911 calls starting coming in around 5:30. Firefighters arrived and began using holding pools and water tankers to supply their equipment, bringing the fire under control within about one and a half hours from the first notification of the blaze. There was no threat of the fire extending to anything other than brush. Crews remained on scene for a while, extinguishing hot spots and watching for flare-ups. It’s outside their jurisdiction so the Fire Department won’t be looking for a cause.
