Saskatoon Police Major Crimes have charged a 22 year old woman with causing death while driving impaired by alcohol and failure to stop after, in relation to an incident Saturday morning.
At approximately 4:30 am, police and Medavie Health Services responded to a injured person in a parking lot in the 700 block of Appleby Drive. A 23 year old woman had been hit by a vehicle and died from her injuries at scene. Police say, in consultation with the victim’s family, they have agreed to release her name, Kiona Nicotine. The suspect was found a short time later at another location and was arrested.
Saskatoon Police Service Major Crimes, Forensic Identification Services and Collision Analysts were called out to investigate. An autopsy is scheduled to occur later this week.
