Statistics Canada says, just as in April, the number of U.S. and Canadian residents crossing the border from the United States by automobile stayed at a virtual standstill for the month of May. Restrictions on non-essential travel were the cause. In Saskatchewan there was about an 88 per cent drop in Americans entering this province, falling from 7,900 in May of 2019 to about a thousand last month. And, in terms of Canadian residents returning from the U.S into Saskatchewan, there was a 95 per cent drop, from about 19,400 in May 2019 to around a thousand this May.
