Three teen girls have died while out on a community get-together on the St. Mary River in Alberta. Global News in Alberta is reporting that they are all from the Spring Valley Hutterite Colony near Lethbridge.
On Wednesday RCMP were called to a drowning in the area of Spring Coulee where approximately 10 people had gone swimming and caonoeing. Authorities report that around 7:30 p.m. the three girls had difficulty trying to get out of the water after their canoe capsized. One of the girls was found and pronounced deceased at the scene. Two others were swept away.
Lethbridge Search and Rescue located a second girl around 6:30 Thursday morning and the search continues for the third missing girl.
