A Regina man is facing arson charges related to four recent fires in the capital city.
Fifty year-old Rene Gerard Hickey, was arrested after an investigation of fires that occurred in late May and the first two weeks of June.
The fires included:
- May 30th – a large tree stump in the front yard of a home
- June 3rd – a garbage bin was set on fire and did damage to a nearby garage, the point of origin was also very near to as SaskEnergy meter and gas lines
- June 9th – a man allegedly broke int a vacant house in the 1400 block of Retallack Street. A fire was lit inside the house causing extensive damage.
- June 11th – bushes and shrubs that were lit on fire at the corner of Dewdney Avenue and Rae Street. Firefighters were called out to each of the blazes.
Firefighters were called out to extinguish each of the four fires.
Hickey is charged with 4 counts of arson, causing damage to property. He made his first appearance in court last Friday.
