A boarded-up house went up in flames Sunday afternoon on the 300 block of Avenue Q South. The Saskatoon Fire Department got the call just before two o’clock. Flames were visible when they arrived. A bystander indicated the strong possibility that someone was inside but fire crews found the building vacant. The fire was quickly brought under control. There were no injuries. A fire investigator is looking for the cause and assessing the damage.
Just before three o’clock Sunday afternoon, Saskatoon firefighters were called to a hydrocarbon disposal site on the 100 block of Cory Road in Corman Park. The fire was out about an hour later. No one was hurt. The Fire Department says there was no elevated concern about hazardous materials. Because the area is outside the department’s jurisdiction, there will be no investigation into the cause or a damage estimate.
