The Government of Saskatchewan announced this morning (Tuesday) it is investing over $80 million in Long-Term Care facilities in the province. This is over and above what was in the budget yesterday for Meadow Lake.
More than $7.2 million is slated for 82 renewal projects in 51 long term care facilities. Improvements will include flooring and window replacements, heating and air conditioning upgrades and water and sewer line replacement.
$73 million will go towards replacing the Grenfell Pioneer Home as well as replacing La Ronge’s current facility. A decision on the procurement process is expected this summer for the Grenfell project.
In the budget Monday it was announced $15.7 million was being directed to continued construction of a new 72-bed long-term senior’s care facility in Meadow Lake. $4 million has been set aside for diagnostic imaging equipment, including $2 million to fulfill a government commitment for a new CT scanner in Melfort.
