A silent vigil will be held Saturday in Saskatoon, to honour the more than 25 million refugees worldwide.
That according to the Saskatoon Refugee Coalition, along with Amnesty International members, who will gather at Noon in downtown Saskatoon, in the City’s Civic square. Participants are being asked to wear masks, gather in groups of no more than 10 people and stand six feet apart.
The Refugee Coalition says many people will be wearing poster boards with photos of refugees from around the world, to highlight the many refugees having to cope during the COVID-19 pandemic. The vigil is apart of the activities going on across the globe as part of World Refugee Day.
In case of rain the event will take place in front of the Saskatoon Open Door Society at 129 – 3rd Avenue North.
