Saskatoon Police put traffic restrictions in place as firefighters fought a fire at an apartment building in the 100 block of Edinburgh Place in the city’s College Park East neighbourhood.
The Saskatoon Fire Department says visible smoke and flames were seen when crews arrived and everyone inside the building had evacuated. The fire was inside a fourth floor unit. Multiple 9-1-1 calls came in at 7:49 p.m. and the fire was under control and considered a “loss stopped” by 8:24 p.m.
While searching the building, one cat was located and was described as not being in distress. A fire investigator is on scene working to determine the cause and tabulate a damage estimate.
Residents from the apartment building were escorted back into the building to gather their belongings and were put up in hotels for the night.
