A fire investigator has confirmed the apartment building fire in the 100 block of Edinburgh Place on Sunday night was accidental, although an exact cause is not available
Damage has been estimated at around $600,000 and the building is uninhabitable until it’s fixed up.
A fire inspector will continue to work with the property owner to monitor the progress of the repairs.
The blaze began in a 4th floor unit.
The Saskatoon Fire Department says while conducting the investigation a cat and a large dog were found dead inside that apartment.
The SPCA came to the building to remove and take control of the bodies.
The Fire Department also found a cat on the second floor, and it was unharmed.
Residents from the apartment building were escorted back into the building to gather their belongings and were put up in hotels for the night.
