55 projects have been announced by the Government of Saskatchewan to begin the more than $7.4 million provincial investment under the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP).
The $150 million MEEP 2020 plan is a component of the province’s $7.5 billion, two year capital plan, the province says is aimed at stimulating the economic recovery after COVID-19
Some of the projects in the first round include local roadway improvements for the City of North Battleford, a community hall for Ille-a-la-Crosse, water wells for Balcarres, and a road and main street water replacement project in Watrous.
Each project and its schedule is managed by the municipality receiving funding. All funding must be used by March 31st, 2022.

The City of Saskatoon began the process of allocating $35.53 million, provided by the provincial government, as part of the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program.
The Governance and Priorities Committee met Monday to review a reallocation list which included $27.13 million of the total funds, that the province had originally tagged for road paving, something Saskatoon already has reserves for.
Larger reallocations that were discussed include, multiple fire department projects, like the building of a new Fire Hall Number 5, a fire training facility, and a new fire hall in the Northwest side of the city.
Two of the largest projects include the design and construction of a new snow management facility, to replace the existing snow dump, and a large upgrade to the 22nd Street West corridor, for growth water and sanitary system capacity upgrades.
With nearly 21 projects potentially being funded, the finalized list will be deferred to the next GPC meeting in July for approval.
Along with the reallocation projects, MEEP funding is expected to go towards sidewalk rehabilitation, a downtown festival site, roadside safety improvements, and to neighbourhood traffic reviews and traffic safety.
