The number of people living with cystic fibrosis in Saskatchewan has grown over the last decade.
Yet the pricing on much-needed medications that can provide a better life for residents with CF are in the hundreds of thousands for families not covered by private medical plans.
Chris MacLeod with the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Treatment Society is able to access a drug named Kalydeco to help improve his quality of life with cystic fibrosis, and he wants to make that a reality for others.
He says it’s time for the provincial government to become a leader by making these life-saving drugs more accessible and available through provincial drug plans.
MacLeod is asking all provincial politicians to show leadership, and Premier Scott Moe to show leadership at the national level.
MacLeod hopes Premier Moe can take the lead through the chair of the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance to set a deadline of Labour Day weekend to make sure a deal is in place to make these drugs affordable
