SGI says there were 411 impaired driving offences in May including 339 Criminal Code charges. The insurance company says impaired driving is still the leading cause of death on roads in this province with 21 people killed last year. Also in the May Traffic Safety Spotlight: 356 distracted driving tickets. 257 of those were for cellphone use. 742 tickets were issued for aggressive driving and speeding. And 315 tickets were for seatbelts and child restraints used incorrectly or not at all.
