It’s Grad Week for Saskatoon Public Schools and Thursday is Graduation day for Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.
In the Public School Division, Tommy Douglas Collegiate celebrated with a virtual ceremony today, and then the grads had an assigned time to arrive at the school in their cap and gown so families could watch them pick up their diplomas on an outdoor stage.
Close to a thousand Catholic School students celebrated in front of a screen.
It was all taped ahead of time, and each student was filmed getting their diploma.
Superintendent of learning, Scott Gay says even though restrictions have loosened and outdoor grad ceremonies with physical distancing are allowed, it was felt planning was too far advanced to change course.
