The Supreme Court of Canada has ended the legal battle from a group of First Nations in British Columbia to stop the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion. Back in February, the Federal Court of Appeal dismissed the judicial review applications from the First Nations. They appealed to the Supreme Court and Thursday morning, the court dismissed the applications for leave to appeal.
The review was on whether there was enough consultation.
Saskatchewan and Alberta were intervenors in the case, supporting Trans Mountain.
Premier Scott Moe has said in the past that this project would increase capacity from 300-thousand barrels per day to 890-thousand barrels, which will make it easier for oil producers to get their product to market.
Construction on the project is already underway.
