A 27 year old man is facing charges of assaulting a police officer, disarming a peace officer, mischief and possession of a controlled substance, after police say, several methods were attempted to take him into custody.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Police responded to a complaint of a suspicious person in the 500 block of 11th Street East.
Upon arrival, Police encountered a man they say had caused damage to property. An officer attempted to take the man into custody, but says he resisted and attempted to disarm the officer.
Police report the officer tried to use pepper spray but it was ineffective and he struggled to take the man into custody for several minutes prior to other officers arriving to assist.
A taser was deployed, however even that was ineffective. Police were eventually able to take the man into custody and he was transported to Detention.
