Fifty bricks of cocaine were seized near Davidson last Friday.
The officer in charge of criminal operations with the Saskatchewan RCMP, Chief Superintendent Alfredo Banglo says while they are thankful to get these drugs off the street, “the true success of the investigation is the complete disruption of this interprovincial drug operation, and preventing any potential acts of violence, property crime and addiction that is always a price to pay in the drug trade.”
Banglo says an officer from the Craik RCMP Detachment stopped a vehicle for speeding northbound on Highway 11 near Davidson around 1:30 last Friday afternoon.
It’s alleged that during a vehicle search the cocaine was found in 2 duffle bags, packaged for distribution.
Banglo believes it’s one of the largest cocaine seizure in the province.
The officer also seized burner phones and about $36-hundred in cash.
Officers from the Federal Serious and Organized Crime Team South assisted the local Detachment with the investigation.
Two men from Brampton were arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
Both 24 year old Jitpartap Singh Bhatti and 30 year old Harmdeep Sandhu are charged with trafficking cocaine and Sandhu is also charged with possession of proceeds of crime.
They appeared in court in Moose Jaw Wednesday and were released on strict conditions.
Both are back in court on July 27th.
