While the Saskatoon area enjoyed a nice rain Tuesday evening and overnight, some extremely gusty winds were whipping around other areas of the province. North Battleford Airport saw a peak wind gust of 83 km/h, in Regina the wind gusted to 76, Estevan at 80 and Assiniboia at 91. But it was the southwest where the most notable winds were blowing. Val Marie recorded a peak wind gust of 117 km/h, Coronach at 139 and Mankota 141 km/h.
Environment Canada’s Shannon Moodie says they’re aware of some downed power lines and up rooted trees in the Hazemore area. She also says the had report of 1.5 inches or 38 millimetres of rain in two hours in Swift Current.
Wind warnings are in place across the southwest this morning with gusts between 70 and 90 km/h in the forecast for much of the afternoon, Moodie says between 20 and 30mm’s of rain could fall in the northwestern grain belt along with some pop up thunderstorms further south.
