The Saskatoon Fire Department was called out at 6:41 this morning to the 11-hundred block of Avenue C North.
Firefighters entered the alley and saw a pile of debris and the garage to both be on fire. The fire didn’t extend to neighbouring properties and no injuries were reported.
A fire investigator says it is arson with damage estimated around $5,000.
About 45 minutes earlier, fire crews responded to the 400 block of Avenue I South and found a small pile of debris on fire extending towards a nearby fence.
A witness on scene reported seeing a young person in dark clothing run from the scene before fire crews arrived.
A pressurized water fire extinguisher was used to put it out. The Fire Investigator has deemed it to be incendiary, or arson, and the Saskatoon Police Service is also investigating. Damage is minimal and estimated around $250.
