A 16 year member of the the Regina Police Service has been charged with assault after an investigation into an incident from April 21st.
The Police Service received a complaint that day, alleging an officer used excessive force when responding to a report where someone needed assistance.
It’s alleged the officer assaulted a woman while responding.
The Regina Police Service notified the Public Complaints commission and as a result of the investigation, 50 year old Roger Wiebe has been charged.
He makes his first court appearance on August 11th.
There is also an internal investigation.
In the meantime, Constable Wiebe has been reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the case.
