Depending on the measure used, economic activity in Saskatchewan fell by 8.2 per cent or up to 46.7 per cent between March 2019 and March 2020. Statistics Canada says COVID-19 and the oil price shock were the culprits. Alberta was hit harder. The estimates for that province range from 30.1 per cent to a decrease of 68.7 per cent. At the other end of the spectrum, Nunavut, which has no confirmed COVID cases, saw an increase in it economic activity index of 8.8 per cent.
