During a routine inspection July 3rd, Ministry of Environment inspectors found a boat contaminated with invasive mussels. It had been purchased outside of the province and was checked on Highway 16 near the Manitoba border. The boat underwent a full decontamination. Environment Minister Dustin Duncan says this underlines the importance of making sure all boats purchased outside the province are inspected before being launched in our waters. The province has eight mobile watercraft decontamination units set up at fixed points on the Manitoba border with others located throughout the province.
