The City’s Neighbourhood Traffic Reviews will be moving online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nathalie Baudais, Senior Transportation Engineer, from Transportation & Construction says in past reviews they’ve heard concerns for anything from people speeding through neighbourhoods, to requests for stop signs or crosswalks.
Baudais says that the pandemic has moved neighbourhood engagement online, and is hoping to reach even more residents this way. She explains, resident concerns are used to develop a data collection plan to identify what issues are needing to be address. Then a draft traffic plan is taken back to the neighbourhood for finalization and review by the transportation committee and city council. These secondary steps are still being organized during the pandemic.
To join, every neighbourhood will eventually have their own engagement page with login information and a user guide on how to get involved in the meeting. Baudais says they are using Microsoft Teams Live for the meetings because there are better privacy controls available and because people can join anonymously .
Meetings will also be recorded so anyone who can’t make the meeting can watch later.
