Three people have been arrested for a total of 47 charges as a result of a collaborative effort between multiple R-C-M-P detachments in Alberta and Saskatchewan following a carjacking that involved a firearm in Lloydminster earlier this week.
Twenty-four year-old Lucas Aaron Oakes and 21-year-old Montana Horse, both from the Makwa Sahgaiechan First Nation in Saskatchewan, plus 33-year-old Jesse Leigh Heathen of Lloydminster, Alberta, were arrested and have appeared for a judicial hearing and will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on August 4th.
Between 5 and 7-30 p.m. on July 29th, the three suspects were involved in multiple carjacking attempts in the areas of Onion Lake, Lloydminster and Maidstone, with reports of firearms and shots fired in some of the attempts. Horse was arrested in the Lloydminster area while Oakes and Heathen were apprehended near Hillmond. They were jointly charged with 14 criminal code offences plus each received multiple, individual charges.
