Saskatoon City Council has approved changes to the Election Bylaw which means all eligible voters will be able to request a mail-in ballot, regardless of circumstances.
Also, the witness criteria for a mail-in ballot application will be expanded to include anyone who is an eligible voter.
More voting opportunities are being arranged as well.
Returning Officer Scott Bastian told Council at a special meeting on Tuesday that there will be 11 advanced poll locations available between October 30th and November 5th, an increase from 6 locations in 2016.
The election team is finalizing plans for the City’s first ever drive-thru advance poll voting option, which will be in the north end.
A news release from the City says it’s all part of the effort to ensure public safety measures are in place for voters and election workers, as the pandemic continues.
Election day is November 9th.
