The provincial government has stopped a potential partnership with the WE Charity to promote mental health and mental well-being in schools. It would have been a $260-thousand contract for WE.
Education Minister Gord Wyant admitted that recent circumstances have created some conflict with the delivery of the program, hinting at the ethics scandal between the federal government and the organization. He says the province doesn’t want to have that relationship and they will be moving on to find other candidates.
He considers the mental health resources an important investment, so the government will search for another group that can take it on. The WE Charity says it respects the provincial government’s decision. (CKRM)
