The Saskatchewan government has announced that over $2.6 million is being invested into improvements at the Moose Jaw Municipal Airport.
The investment will go towards expansion of the existing runway and taxiway to help accommodate larger planes. Other improvements include the construction of a new apron space that will increase parking area for aircraft, a new hangar access road, and an additional runway, taxiway and approach lights.
The project will see funds from the Federal government with $1.2 million, provincial government at $999,900 and the city of Moose Jaw contributing $500,100 and any additional costs.
Saskatchewan government Relations Minister Lori Carr says work from the local initiative, along with job creation from other projects under the government’s $7.5 billion, two-year provincial capital plan will help to kick start economic recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
