The Saskatchewan Medical Association would like the provincial government to be a little tougher with the back-to-school measures, especially when it comes to masks.
President Dr. Barb Konstantynowicz says the bar needs to be set higher at the outset and then lowered gradually as we find out what we are up against.
SMA representatives met this week with chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab and officials from the health and education ministries.
Konstantynowicz believes the government listened to their concerns, as evidenced by Education Minister Gord Wyant announcing on Friday that masks could be made mandatory in schools.
Konstantynowicz says masks are a simple and effective defence against COVID-19 so we should be wearing them whenever social distancing can’t occur.
