A 29 year old man is facing multiple charges including assault and carrying a concealed weapon after police say he was caught applying graffiti to a business wall on Saturday.
At 1:12 p.m. a Saskatoon Police Service Bike Unit officer reports riding northbound in the 100 block of 2nd Ave North. The officer says they smelled fresh paint and observed a man in an alley that had just applied graffiti to a business wall. A second officer arrived and they attempted to arrest the man. Police say he produced a knife from his back and held it up to the officers. He failed to drop the knife and a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) was deployed. The 29 year-old was then taken into custody and transported to hospital. While en route, he allegedly spit on a paramedic.
The man is facing charges of mischief, assaulting a police officer x 2, common assault, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public.
The Saskatoon Police say the use of the CEW will be reviewed as per policy.
