The federal government has announced $895 thousand to help support Indigenous jobs and opportunities in Saskatchewan. The money from the Western Economic Diversification Fund is targeted towards culturally relevant programming for Indigenous peoples to fully participate in the economic growth of the province. Specifically, the money will go towards two projects: The first, to develop training and employment opportunities for residents of northern Saskatchewan affected by the slow-down of uranium mining in the Athabasca basin. The second, to support the Gabriel Dumont Institute to build on a pilot project that is focused on Metis entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan.
