Total manufacturing sales in Saskatchewan in June rose about 5 per cent. That was on the low end of the provinces with the national average coming in at about 21 per cent. Compared to June of last year, sales were off here by about 14 per cent. The national average was a decline of around 16 per cent. Total sales in Saskatchewan in June amounted to about $1.1 billion.
In the Saskatoon census metropolitan area, manufacturing sales rose 11 per cent in June. Of 12 centres surveyed, seven had higher numbers. Statistics Canada says compared to the same month a year ago, sales here were up only 0.7 per cent. Only three centres were higher and the four centres together were the only ones in positive territory. In Regina, sales were down 14 per cent month-to-month and down about 20 per cent year-to-year. Total sales in Saskatoon in June rang in at 304 million.
