Saskatchewan’s official opposition says the moment schools were closed in March is when the government should have begun planning for a safe reopening.
Premier Scott Moe said on Monday, during the COVID-19 update, that the plans for back to school are fluid and can adapt to any situation as it unfolds.
He disagrees that there is a rush as the date for schools to open looms.
NDP Leader Ryan Meili suggests with only weeks before students are back in the classroom, the government’s guidelines for school divisions are unclear and they are constantly changing.
He notes that even with a last minute $40-million funding announcement, per-student funding this year will still be lower than it was in 2016.
