Recent videos showing young people in large gatherings, not wearing masks or social distancing is on the minds of federal officials. Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says they are using youth testimonials about their own experience as a way to reach young people about COVID-19. She says that there are other initiatives yet to roll out. Tam admits that they need to do a better job of connecting with young people. She says they need to keep the messaging appealing to that age group. In fact, she is encouraging young people to share ideas about to do the messaging.
The prospect of a federal election campaign during the current pandemic was brought up at Tuesday’s brief updated on the COVID-19 situation in Canada. Tam says she would expect that any set-up for in-person voting would respect the public health recommendations concerning physical distancing, mask-wearing, and hand hygiene measures.
