The Saskatoon Fire Department had a structure fire on the 18 hundred block of 20th Street West around 8:30 Thursday night. The department says it’s their understanding that the building is used for short-term rentals accommodations but it wasn’t occupied at the time. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the back of the building. A small fire was found in the basement and by 9:20 it was declared under control. There were no injuries. The fire is still being investigated. Damage is estimated at $20 thousand.
