Deon Lacey for sure…and, reportedly, Brett Lauther…have opted out of their C-F-L contracts with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in order to go after N-F-L playing chances.
Players have the ability to opt out of their contracts as of Monday as a result of the C-F-L-P-A reaching a deal with the league following the cancellation of the 2020 season. Lacey didn’t play with the Green and White after being signed in May. The import linebacker had played the last three seasons in the N-F-L. LINEBACKER DEON LACEY RELEASED TO PURSUE NFL OPPORTUNITIES
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released American linebacker Deon Lacey to pursue NFL opportunities.
Lacey, who spent the last three seasons in the NFL before signing with the Riders in May, informed the Club of his decision to opt out of his contact per the agreement between the CFL and the CFLPA after the cancellation of the 2020 season.
