The Saskatchewan Roughriders finally acknowledged the reports, announcing Tuesday that Canadian place-kicker Brett Lauther has opted out of his C-F-L contract to pursue an N-F-L opportunity.
The Green and White added three other players to that list…Regina product and punter Jon Ryan, homebrew O-Lineman Dakoda Shepley and import receiver DeMarcus Ayers. Shepley was the Riders’ nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie in 2019. By terms of the agreement between the league and its Players’ Association, the C-F-L rights to Shepley and Ayers stay with Saskatchewan in 2021 if he returns to the league. OFFENSIVE LINEMAN DAKODA SHEPLEY RELEASED TO PURSUE NFL OPPORTUNITIES
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released Canadian offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley to pursue NFL opportunities.
Shepley, the Roughriders 2019 nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie, opted out of his contract per the agreement between the CFL and the CFLPA after the cancellation of the 2020 season. Should Shepley return to the CFL, the Roughriders retain his rights through the 2021 season.
