Thunderstorms rumbled over Saskatoon during the night moving eastward through the province. Environment Canada says the weather station at the Saskatoon airport recorded 2.3 millimetres of rain. Prince Albert area 7.9 mm, in the City of Prince Albert 2.3 mm and Melfort 2.6 millimetres of rain.
For our neighbours to the south, Environment Canada meteorologist Natalie Hasell says several locations reported overnight lows near 20 degrees or warmer and it starts with an upper air ridge.
“We have another set of fronts just a little bit further south into Montana and the Dakotas and sort of not really warm air just a few states south, but warm enough still to make a noticeable difference between the very southern part of Saskatchewan and the rest of the province.”
Environment and Climate Change Canada has confirmed there was a tornado near Lake Lenore around 5:30 p.m. last Friday. This tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF0 and is considered a landspout tornado.
