A former University of Regina graduate and Saskatchewan resident is on the fore-front of COVID-19 research.
Dr. Nevan Krogan, who is now a professor at the University of California, San Fransisco, is leading a team of scientists working to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and understand how the SARS-COVID 2 virus hijacks human cells to replicate.
Dr Krogan says so far, their research has become a collaborative approach with scientists from across the United States and Europe are working on this research as well.
Dr. Krogan says the goal of their research is to potentially help in the rapid development of treatments, something he remains optimistic in. He says never before have there been so many scientists working to solve one problem, so he’s optimistic about the drugs being developed to one day create a COVID-19 vaccine.
