The value of building permits in Saskatchewan rose in July about 10 per cent. Four provinces had bigger gains. The national average was a drop of three per cent. Compared to July of 2019, the value in Saskatchewan dropped 18.4 per cent. Only B.C. had a bigger drop at 19.5 per cent. The national average was a 9.6 per cent decline. The total value of permits in Saskatchewan in July was $100.5 million.
In the Saskatoon metropolitan area, the value rose 44.2 per cent from the month before. Of 37 CMAs surveyed, eight had bigger gains. Peterborough Ontario had a gain of over one thousand percent. The national average was a drop of about eight per cent. Compared to the same month a year ago, Saskatoon’s numbers were down 16.4 per cent. 20 centres had bigger drops. The national average was a decline of about 13 per cent. The total value in July was about $53 million.
