They want you to feel comfortable, feel safe and to ensure it is a good experience for everyone enjoying Wanuskewin this long weekend.
That from Andrew McDonald, Director of Marketing & Communications who says they are a mask mandatory site and if you forget your mask, they can provide one. As well, there will be social distancing and 24 different hand washing stations throughout the facility.
McDonald says the took advantage of the COVID-19 shutdown to try and wrap up their $40 million upgrade. It includes a bison paddock for the herd of 15 bison which includes the calves born in spring, a 50% increase to the building, a new conference and event centre, as well as a storytelling circle and a new permanent exhibit. Inside the building there is a new art gallery, new gift shop and new restaurant space as well.
Starting at 11 a.m. on the long weekend, there will be guided programs like dance performances, bison tour, and there is a walk which all happen daily. But visitors are welcome to explore the trails on their own as well. This is the first time Wanuskewin has been open since the pandemic shut-down began.
