There are only a few days now before schools open their doors to students, for the first time since the pandemic hit Saskatchewan in March.
While some have criticized the provincial government for their handling of the back-to-school safety plan, Education Minister Gord Wyant says he is very confident in the plans created by school divisions.
Last month, the Education Minister announced that school divisions can apply for additional funds to handle their increased costs for staffing, preparations and supplies.
Wyant says they have received over 40 applications for a total to date of about $80-million.
The Ministry is reviewing those applications.
The federal government gave Saskatchewan $74.9-million for schools and the province set aside $40-million from their 200-million COVID-19 contingency fund for schools.
