The Saskatoon Police are looking for a man who reportedly bear maced an officer Sunday evening.
Saskatoon Police received a call at 6:50p.m., of a man carrying a knife in his hand through the Pleasant Hill Park. A patrol officer located the suspect in the park and went to go and speak with him. Police say the suspect ran from the officer and dropped a knife in the process. The officer continued to pursue him on foot into a backyard in the 100 block of Ave U South where the suspect allegedly turned on the officer and sprayed bear mace. K-9 attended and was unsuccessful in locating the suspect. Medavie Health Services attended and assisted with decontaminating the officer who was bear maced. The officer has recovered and is back to active duty.
The suspect is described as being an Indigenous male, 25-30 years of age, 5’10”, 180lbs, and last seen wearing a black ball cap, a white shirt, and black shorts.
