Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer realizes we will be spending most of our time indoors soon with fall and winter on the way, but she doesn’t believe it will be the same experience we had at the beginning of March with the shut down from COVID-19.
Dr. Theresa Tam says it’s a different situation now, and if transmission is kept low, the economy can remain open.
She has some advice if you are thinking about going to an indoor event.
She suggests thinking about the risk factors for yourself and those in your ‘bubble’ and think about what would happen if you had to self-isolate for 2 weeks.
Dr. Tam says, “Just because you know the people at an event outside your household and contact bubble does not mean the risk is any way reduced. Don’t let your guard down.”
Her advice is also to take into consideration what the host has done to make safety changes, and limiting the number of locations you attend for 2 weeks prior to your planned activity, to reduce the risk of transmission.
