The annual tour by the President and Vice-President of the Saskatchewan Medical Association will be done virtually this year. In past years, the tour meant traveling the province to hear the concerns of physicians directly. This year, it’s by video conference. Tuesday night, the Saskatoon Regional Medial Association will be on the call. Tomorrow, it will be Regina Qu’Appelle RMA docs. SMAS President Doctor Barb Konstantynowicz says that the tour, “Is crucial to gathering feedback from physicians across the province on areas of concern.”
One area of interest is the relationship between the Saskatchewan Health Authority and physicians. The Association says bylaws and rules that articulate that relationship have been under review since the formation of the SHA.
Another concern is racism within the health-care system and the medical profession. Konstantynowicz says the tour will give physicians a chance to voice their thoughts and opinions on steps the Association can take to start addressing the issue.
