A Regina Police Officer used a taser to defend himself and make an arrest on Tuesday. The officer was responding to a report of a man trying to punch a member of the public when the suspect became verbally abusive and approached the officer in what police describe as an assaultive manner. Police say the suspect became more agitated and punched the officer several times. He was taken to the ground and a taser was used to take gain control and facilitate an arrest. There were no injuries reported. 39 year old Justin Andre Ross is charged with Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest. He’s to appear in Provincial Court in November.
