The Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan is claiming the SaskParty government has negotiated in secret with the Justin Trudeau Government, to get its cut of the carbon tax revenue. The Sask PC Party made the allegations in a statement Monday with leader Ken Grey, calling it an affront to the people who put trust in them to fight for the oil and gas industry. The PC Party are making the claims based on an interview with Federal environment minister Jonathan Wilkinson.
When asked about the meetings, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Saskatchewan, Don Morgan denied the allegations. Morgan says if that meeting took place he sure wasn’t aware of it, and he doubts the Premier was aware either. He says there was no secret meeting or negotiations and has no idea where that statement would come from,
The PC Party say they are advocating a dollar for dollar reduction of the carbon tax for consumers from the PST collected on the same items. Adding they can help consumers being taxed twice by the carbon tax and the provincial PST.
