Two men charged after the Saskatchewan Penitentiary riot in December of 2016 have been found not guilty of second degree murder.
The riot was December 14th of that year and involved around 185 prisoners.
43 year old Jason Leonard was found unresponsive in his cell after the disturbance and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He had been serving time for break and enter and theft.
The trial by judge alone found 25 year old Brandon Wyatt Burns and 24 year old Landon Bryce McKay not guilty of second degree murder.
Three other men, Kelfert Watetch, Sundance Okemaysim and Klaine Campeau pleaded guilty to manslaughter last year and have been sentenced.
