The province has announced annual funding of $4.3 million to Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies for skills training programs. The funding will allow the college to deliver a variety of education and skills training programs including Adult Basic Education, both off and on-reserve, Essential Skills for the Workplace, as well as the Skills Training Allocation.
The SIIT network consists of three principal campus sites, eight strategically-located career and trades training centres, two mobile job connection units, and more than 35 community learning sites.
The province has announced annual funding of $1.9 million to the Regina and Saskatoon Trades and Skills Centre. Each will receive $961,000 to cover program delivery and administration costs.
The Saskatoon Centre is a not-for-profit organization that helps to equip employers with skilled workers and equip adults with the skills for jobs they need to start a career.
The Regina Centre delivers short-term trades and skills training that leads to entry-level jobs in industries where workers are in high demand, and work with industry to develop and deliver programs that are responsive to industry needs.
